Meet Your Inspectors

Richard Acree, President,  became a Home and Commercial Building Inspector in 2005 after attending training at the Kaplan/Inspector Training Associates (ITA) courses for home and commercial building inspection. ITA offers the only home inspection curriculum endorsed by the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). Richard started HABITEC in 2005.

In 2006, the State of Tennessee enacted licensing requirements for all residential Home Inspectors, including significant training or experience, completion of the National Home Inspection Exam, and business insurance. HABITEC Inspectors have met and exceeded the requirements set forth by the State of Tennessee. HABITEC Inspectors perform Home Inspections in a manner consistent with the Standards of Practice specified by the Commissioner, TN Department of Commerce and Insurance, and the Standards described by ASHI.

But you don't have to take our word for it. You can talk to our references directly! We encourage you to always check references when contracting with a building inspector.

3. Do you provide computer generated reports with digital pictures? (The latest technology.)

4. Do you comply with Tennessee Department of Commerce rules for Home Inspections? (A requirement to be licensed.)

5. For Home Inspectors, have you passed the National Home Inspector Exam? (An indication of competence and knowledge.)

6. Do you have references and their contact information easily available? (If not, pass and keep searching.)
